A strikingly beautiful table lamp in veined white alabaster with a wide trumpet bell form mounted on a stepped, multiply-waisted cylindrical base. Alabaster lamps were particularly prized in Art Déco because the stone glows from within with a warm, milky, honey-coloured light and the natural veins become decorative patterns. This type of lamp was widespread in Italy and France of the 1920s and 1930s and epitomises Art Déco luxury.
