Glass Vase, Red with Silver Overlay, Vine Leaf Décor

Globular glass vase in deep red-brown with a broad silver overlay decoration of stylised vine leaves and tendrils. The silver application was applied by acid-etching, revealing finely chased leaf veins and fruit clusters. This combination of coloured glass and precious-metal overlay was especially popular in Central Europe during the 1920s and stands in the tradition of the Wiener Werkstätten and related decorative art movements.
