Opaline Press Glass Vase with Parakeets in Relief

A large vase in opalescent press glass with boldly modelled relief decoration: two parakeets perched on a branch amid stylised leaves and wave bands. The blue opalescence is characteristic of French press glass manufacturers such as Sabino, Etling or Verlys, who applied naturalistically stylised animal motifs to vases and bowls in the 1920s and 1930s. The piece stands in the tradition of the Lalique school.
